By Public Transport:

If travelling by public transport from Melbourne to Lorne ensure you book well in advance as connections are limited with four available per day during the week and two per day on weekends using the VLINE service. If you can try and book your travel during daylight hours (before 6pm) as the coach leg from Geelong to Lorne is quite scenic when you reach the Great Ocean Road. Expect 3hrs travel time via public transport plus connection time.
From Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport:
Tullamarine airport is located 25km north west of Melbourne’s CBD, and approximately 85km from Geelong to the South West.
By Car:
Take the Western Ring Road (M80) south to the Princes Highway (M1), then toward Geelong. Follow the M1 around the outskirts of the city via the Geelong Ring Road (M1). Take the Great Ocean Road turn off at Waurn Ponds (C134). This connects with the Great Ocean Road (B100) just outside of Anglesea. Continue along the B100 to Lorne.
By Public Transport via Melbourne CBD:
Take the Skybus to Southern Cross Railway Station and connect to the V-line train/coach service to Geelong, and Lorne.
Skybus is an airport shuttle service offering buses between Tullamarine airport and Melbourne CBD, including Southern Cross Railway Station. The service departs from Terminal 3 (Virgin) and Terminal 1 (QUANTAS), takes approximately 20 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre and costs $17 per adult (one way). V-line train services depart daily from Melbourne to Geelong and connect with coach services along the Great Ocean Road to Lorne. Select FROM Melbourne, Southern Cross TO Lorne, Mountjoy parade on the booking page. In Geelong you will need to switch tranportation from train to coach (allow 2.5hrs travel time).
